The obverse (front side) features Jody Clarke’s right facing profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Diadem crown along with the 2 pounds denomination, and the inscriptions: DG REG FD (acronym definition: by the grace of god Queen and defender of the Faith).The reverse displays Philip Nathan’s interpretation image of Britannia common on the gold and platinum coins in the series. Nathans’s design was chosen by the Royal Mint following an art contest in 1987 and offers a modern interpretation of the historic Britannia figure, inspired by the Celtic Queen Boadicea. Reappearing for the first time on this series after being replaced in 2008 on the 50 pence with a modern design with royal emblems. An essential addition to your bullion collection.
