Kidde Wireless Smoke Detector, AA Battery Operated (Included), Ionization Sensor Wire-Free Interconnect Smoke AlarmThe Kidde Wireless Smoke Detector, AA Battery Operated (Included), Ionization Sensor Wire-Free Interconnect Smoke Alarm, model RF-SM-DC, is a basic smoke detector that uses ionization sensor technology to detect invisible fire particles (associated with fast flaming fires). When smoke or fire is detected, an 85-decibel alarm will sound. The Kidde Wireless Smoke Alarm enables extension of coverage & protection without any need for additional wiring. When one alarm sounds, they all do, providing an early warning against fire by dramatically increasing your ability to hear an alarm anywhere in your home, regardless of where the fire starts. The Kidde Wireless Smoke Detector is powered by 2-AA alkaline batteries (included), which provide easy installation since the alarm requires no wiring, plus coverage during a power failure. A red LED indicates that the smoke detector is sensing smoke or fire. A test-hush button allows you to test the battery operations as well as silence nuisance alarms that may occur from cooking or shower steam. The Kidde Wireless Smoke Detector will chirp when it’s time to replace the battery. The Kidde smoke detector can be used as a single unit or interconnected with up to 24 Kidde devices (18 of which can be initiated) in a multiple-station arrangement, not exceeding the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 18 initiating devices (smoke, heat, CO). It is possible to interconnect 6 strobe lights and or relay modules. In the event of a power failure, the Kidde fire alarm comes equipped with a 9V battery backup. Using ionization sensing technology, the wired smoke alarm detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. Designed to be easy to install, this Kidde smoke detector includes a pre-stripped wiring harness with easy-off cap. The front battery door makes it simple to replace the smoke alarm’s battery backup without the need to remove the alarm from the mounting bracket. Red LEDs indicate 4 modes of operation: Standby Mode – flashes every 40 seconds to indicate the smoke alarm is operating properly; Alarm Mode – alarm senses products of combustion; Alarm Memory – to indicate the alarm has been activated; and Hush mode – silences the alarm for approximately 7 minutes. Green LED indicates AC power. Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector model i12060A is also available in a two-pack, four-pack, and six-piece bulk pack for contractors and property owners who need an alarm for every room.
