Talking Stick

Reseña del editor Jazz violinist Diane Delin's 2001 release, Talking Stick, on the Blujazz label, is a collection of Delin's compositions and jazz standards. The cd features the same rhythm section as her last Gavin charted "Origins," with Dennis Luxion on piano (formerly with Chet Baker), Michael Arnopol on bass (who also tours with Patricia Barber) and Tom Hipskind on drums (who has toured with Patricia Barber, Brian Culbertson, etc.). In addition to quartet tracks, the cd also features the quartet with strings (arranged by Delin) on three of the tracks, two violin and piano duets, and guest vocalist Greg Pasenko on one track. All of her cds have received extensive airplay, with her last reaching national jazz charts. In addition to performing with her group, Delin conducts educational workshops, clinics and residencies. She also toured with the Frank Sinatra Orchestra, and has played in sections for artists such as Manhattan Transfer, Ray Charles and many others.
