MONTESSORI SORTING BOARD In our everyday lives, we often arrange objects, ideas, and events into convenient groups or categories. Early experiences in sorting things into groups help children to better observe how things are alike and different. Our sorting tray is a wonderful tool for children to practice matching, counting, and sorting as well as the development of motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and having fun at the same time! Encourage children to create their own sorting game by using any object available in nature or around the house. (Buttons, Leaves, chickpeas, wooden balls, rocks, etc.) Ask your children to sort the items by similar characteristics: shape, size, color, and so on. Encourage them to re-sort items in several different ways, based on a variety of traits. Our Sorting Board is sanded by hand to ensure a smooth and gentle surface for little hands. Made from a solid piece of Maple hardwood and sealed with a natural, non-toxic food-safe, solvent-free finish. This Sorting Board is made by me in Raleigh, North Carolina, handcrafted in my woodshop, and 100% sourced in the US.
