Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy. He came from a humble background and initially studied medicine at the University of Pisa. However, his true passion lay in mathematics and natural philosophy. Galileo's observations of Venus further supported the heliocentric model proposed by Nicolaus Copernicus. He noted that Venus went through a complete set of phases, similar to the moon, which could only be explained if Venus orbited the sun and not the Earth.
