Commonly known as a Mocca pot, you can brew and serve fresh espresso fast in this competitively priced and stylish mirror-polished stainless steel pot. The efficient steam extraction method produces an exceptionally rich espresso. In this traditional method, steam is forced through coffee grounds and condenses into the pot’s upper chamber. To use, fill water chamber to MAX mark, insert filter, and fill with fine ground coffee. Tighten containers and place on stovetop. A silicone gasket and release valve allow steam pressure to build safely. All parts are dishwasher safe and handle is heat resistant. Available in 3 and 6 cup sizes. Constructed of durable stainless steel with a retro-look black Bakelite handle, the machine heats on any type of stovetop burner and doesn’t require paper filters. Bodum includes user-friendly directions for filling the bottom compartment with water, the cone-shaped filter with fine coffee grounds, and what sound to listen for when steam has forced its way through the grounds and left the aromatic brew in the upper chamber. A safety valve regulates the steam pressure. This is the smaller of two sizes of stovetop espresso maker by Bodum, measuring 7-1/2 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter at the base. The 12-ounce capacity pours approximately one large mug or a two smaller cups of coffee. After use, the espresso maker can be unscrewed and every piece placed in the dishwasher or quickly washed by hand. Allow to dry completely before reassembling. Caution: Use a small burner whose diameter matches the bottom of the espresso maker as closely as possible, and make sure the handle is not directly over the heat from the burner. –Ann Bieri
