Through the example of these different techniques, viewers will be able to narrow down which method works vest in their homes and which they will be able to physically accomplish. Using a very straightforward manner, Wurden talk through each process with clear, concise language that is supported by solid graphics and excellent. She makes the painting look easy but is up-front about the possible advantages and drawbacks of every technique. Along the way she also aquatints the viewer with such terms a "dragging" and "marbleizing" through visual example. Technically, the video is fine. The subtleties of some of the colors of the painting examples makes them difficult to see on a television, which could explain why Wurden uses such garish colors while painting her backdrops. The instructions are explicit an easy to follow. Included with the video are three cards that list tips on wall preparations and "recipes" for the paint mixtures, and a handout shows each of the 11 styles covered in the video. Wurden is generous with such helpful hints as how many containers are needed for paint mixing and how best to prepare sponges and paint brushes. A well appreciated feature is the inclusion of safety tips. Rubber medical gloves are mentioned when necessary. If the viewer is only interested in one technique, this video will be too long and not focused enough. However, if a design is not yet chosen and instruction and example are needed, this is an excellent video for seeking out a range of decorative painting styles. -- Three star review by Amy M. The visual production is good, and the techniques, which include marbleizing, glazing and sponging, are well presented in easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. as Wurden moves through her demonstrations it is easy to see why she advises us to "strengthen our thigh muscles" before staring the more physically demanding tasks of masking stripes, stenciling, and "dragging" patterns on large expanses of wall. The final result are attractive and certainly could be adapted to almost any interior design.
