Naturalizes easily, attracts hummingbirds., Grows up to 72 inch biennial in USDA Zones 3 - 9., This large, very colorful plant that does extremely well in shade., Sowing Rate: 1/4 ounce per 1,000 square feet or 1/2 pound per acre or 4 - 6 seeds per plant. Sow in late spring to early summer outdoors in a well prepared seed bed. Sow the seeds very thinly (1/16in) in drills 12 inches apart, keep the soil damp until germination takes place and thin out the seedlings 6 inches apart when large enough to handle. Caution: toxic if eaten.
