Red Grafted Moon Cactus / Hibotan Cactus / Star Flowered Cactus Some of the easiest plants to care for, all grafted cacti are actually two different kinds of cactus fused together through a process known as grafting. The result is a beautiful little cactus that looks like it is flowering year round! These Grafted cacti do not require too much sun and do well with little water making them almost maintenance free, perfect for a windowsill, night stand, or to give your office desk some extra color. Light Exposure The best location for a moon cactus is a bright area of your home. An east- or west-facing windowsill will provide plenty of bright light and limited direct sunlight. If your moon cactus is in a south-facing room, it is best to keep it back from the window to prevent plant burn. If you notice that parts of your ruby ball cactus turn white (bleached) or develop scars, move it away from the sun. A plant turning yellow is also a reason for being in too much sunlight. Watering Cacti, by nature, do not require much water at all. The frequency of when you water depends on air temperature and humidity. How much should you water? For pots with drainage, simply soak the soil until water runs out the bottom of the pot (Your Grafted Moon Cactus comes with a pot that has drainage, simplifying the watering process). If your plant is in a pot that does not have drainage, be wary of overwatering. Watering around the base of the plant is all that is necessary, better to have a dry, drought resistant cactus, rather than a overwatered, dead one. Re-Potting Your cactus does not need a larger pot, in fact it will stay roughly the same size should you decide not to re-pot.
